Can love survive both time traveling and lovers of different races?
By Affaire de Coeur
In the process of re-decorating, Dr. Karen Anderson purchased an antique bed at an estate sale, The bed was special–it serves as a catalyst for time traveling when she goes to sleep. The time period it travels to in circa 1880. The place is un the middle of Lakota country. The relationship with the Lakota and other tribes is poor, at best, certainly not the best place for a white woman. There, she meets Jumping Bull, a Hunkpapa chief and the father of Sitting Bull. He is injured, and she administers medical care to him. He, in turn, invites her to his village where she meets Standing Bear, a Hunkpapa warrior. Standing Bear knows from the time he lays eyes on her that she is his soul mate. He must convince her, however, that incidentals, like coming from two different centuries and being of different and opposing races, are just inconveniences. Karen fights him tooth and nail, but can continue to resist Standing Bear? Across the Wilderness is Pamela Ackerson’s latest offering that will, as with her other books, satisfy the romance reader regardless of their sub-genre preferences. Kudos to Ms. Ackerson!

Sesame, an old woman in frail health, is trapped in the attic with no explanation. A woman and her two small girls live on the first floor, none of whom pay the old woman any mind. Though she tries calling out, banging on walls, and stomping on the floor, her cries for help go ignored.
Sesame spends her days writing letters about the strange happenings, to her sister, Eula, who left home decades ago. It becomes certain to everyone living in the house that there is a ghostly presence, firmly rooted among them; disturbing the peace and creating fears beyond reason. The house surely is haunted. Only the ending reveals by whom.

This is a short story but long on creepy. I loved it. Deryn Oliver was the perfect narrator. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Ms. Bishop’s, latest children’s poetry book in the Wee Three series, Innocence and Wonder takes you into a clean and innocent world where everything is funny and positive. Even everyday lessons are learned without harming. The talented writer once again puts the best of her soul and experience in these wonderful poems. Her poems remind us of a child’s world, full of observations and discoveries. As seen through a child’s eyes we view, animals, bugs, and plant life. Many of the funny poems tell of worms, bees, clever cats, and dogs. The poems also speak to us of nature, rain, snow, and rainbows, describing them from a charmingly wonderful children’s perception. Ms. Bishop’s poetry gives us a unique opportunity to see the world through the eyes of an innocent child. I am convinced that Marta still lives as an inquisitive little girl who is interested in everything.

Marta Moran Bishop’s book is uniquely designed for children’s reading, but it will also bring joy and pleasure to adults. Adults will have a unique opportunity to take a fabulous time machine and travel back to many years ago in their carefree and wonderful childhood. Highly recommended!

Saving Cassie–A Very Good Read****
By flo
First time reading a paranormal novel. Did not realize it when I purchased it. Was surprised that it held my attention throughout the book. In the past when I saw a paranormal book, I bypassed it without even reading the introduction. In saving Cassie, I was hooked from page one. I really loved the brother and sister relationship between Cassie and James. I felt their loving relationship added a lot to the story. I enjoyed Cassie’s feisty attitude the first time she met Logan when he stopped her for speeding. There were a lot of situations that Ms. Remenicky added to her story that made the book enjoyable for me. For instance, the way that Cassie’s grandmother could communicate with her and help keep her safe from the demon showed how much she loved her granddaughter. I enjoyed reading how Cassie and Logan’s love for each other developed over the weeks. I want to thank Ms. Remenicky for being able to read a book without any foul language included in the story. I also liked that Cassie was able to get pregnant and had a baby girl at the end—that was a nice surprise. I also enjoyed the book because the love scenes were tastefully done. For anyone who likes to read books without vulgar language and explicit sex scenes gives this book a try. It even makes you laugh at times. I would read another of L.A. Remenicky’s books again.

November 12, 2052: Earth has lost two-thirds of its population to the Great War. Many more lives have been lost to earthquakes, the Clover Virus, and the Death Plague. Years later, survivors are clumped into factions. Two of those factions—the Brotherhood and the Guild Faction—have battled over medical supplies and food for years. The fight is coming to a head as manpower dwindles, and the struggle becomes one to gain numbers, even if said numbers are children…
Griffin Storm, an albino man kidnapped and dragged into the Brotherhood, has transformed into a G.O.D., a Genetically enhanced Omni-dimensional being. Two weeks in the brig, and Griffin’s released after it’s determined that he’s learned to control most of his god-like abilities. His abilities have grown almost as much as his love for Tassta Vinetti and his unfortunate bloodlust. His bond with Tassta’s twin brother, Penn, has grown as well and is cemented in secrets.
Not disappointed!
Griffin, having earned the trust of Fortress authorities, is set to be released from The Brig, much to the delight of Tassta, his sweetheart. Although Griffin still has a lot to learn about balancing his newfound abilities against his inherent humanity, overall he does well and has enough control over his abilities to prevent caving into his inner desires. As his and Tassta’s romance heats up, Griffin gets the horrifying news soon after his release, Griffin’s told that Guild agents and the notorious Trips (super-agents of the Guild) are in the Underground. He must now test his abilities to save the abandoned children that live there. Will Griffin rescue the children of the Underground from a tragic end? Will Tassta and Griffin’s love survive such turmoil? Can a G.O.D. forgive himself when death and destruction follow his every move? Read Blood Phase, the gripping second book in the G.O.D.s Series!

Brilliant!!! Amazing!!!
By Romaine Heart
Book 2 of the G.O.D. Series is amazing.
The characters of Blood Master flows into Blood Phase with ease. More in depth of these young maturing characters, their responsibilities, and struggles of ensuring the safety of everyone at the fortress as well as raiding warehouses and stores for food and essentials.
Griffin has to learn to control his abilities and temper as a demigod otherwise he could create destruction. It’s hard for him to control the human aspect since he was abused by the Guild Faction through their experiments. He’s never felt grief, vengeance or unconditional love.
He often sees visions of himself releasing the Blood Rain which could destroy not only the fortress but everyone in it. He lusts for blood and is learning the blood phases.
Tassta, the only female Guardian, constantly shows Griffin her unconditional love.
Penn has a cute caveman mentality. Cute and witty. Maturing as a young adult.
Who will deceive Griffin? Dean, the head scientist, or Lenin, the Regulator of the Brotherhood?
Zade is a ruthless Trip of the Guild Faction. He took care of Griffin during the experiments. Comforting him but still allowed the experiments to continue. He will do anything to get Griffin back.
My heart goes out to Griffin with his struggles and frustrations. He’s aware he has to prove himself not only to the others but mostly to himself.
I’m volunteering a review for an advanced reader’s copy.

Meet Author and Illustrator JD Holiday – And we’re featuring her book: The Great Snowball Escapade – #ChildrenseBooks, #GrowingUp&FactsofLife, #Family Life, #ChapterBooks

JD collage

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
It was in 5 grade, I think. I started a book but stopped when I realized my spelling problem, which was probably dyslexia, was a problem for a writer.
How long does it take you to write a book?
I’m no overnight author. I write more than one book at a time, and the book that moves ahead first gets to be finished first.  It can take me years from start to the finish for a book.
What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
I write or draw/paint for two to three hours a day, five days a week when I’m on a roll.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
It would have to be that I write more than one book at a time, and my books are in a race to see which one gets finished first!
How do your books get published?
I self-publish for the most part. I do the formatting and upload to the printer, B&N or Amazon myself.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Mostly from my childhood and my own life experience.
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
My first finished book was in my thirties. I was asked to help someone else finish their book and did. I went on to write on my own after that.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Watch tv mysteries or read them.
What does your family think of your writing?
They seem to tolerate it.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
How hard it is to sell books.
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I have five books published, and I can’t really name one that is more important than the other.
Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Just do a lot of editing. Maybe 6 to 8 times you should go through it.
Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I do hear from readers every so often. A few children have asked me how I think like them.
Do you like to create books for adults?
Yes. I do write for adult and even my kid’s books adults say they enjoyed.
What do you think makes a good story?
I think anything, any situation people are in can be made into a good story. It all would depend on the writing, and whether or not the author plots it well and the story moves at a good pace.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
The truth is, I never knew.
 Any books in the works?
Yes, I have two up front in my mind now.
One, a Christmas story, a Christian middle-grade novel about the Cameron children worried that they will not get the toys they asked for for Christmas because their mother is a last minute shopper. The uncle that Trisha Frankel has lived with most of her life with has died. The only option she has is to find the father she does not know, even though her uncle said, “He was no good.” Trisha takes her dog, Mitch to search out her father and find out what he is like for herself. Along the way, her dog is stolen. The most likely suspect in the dog’s disappearance is a man connected to the Cameron children Phoebe, Tucker, and Kirby. Phoebe, Tucker, and Kirby are busy trying to figure out if their Christmas gifts will arrive. But helping Trisha makes them realize that sometimes the lives of others are more important than their own interests, especially at Christmas time.
Second is a picture book called, Geordie And The Beam Of Light. In it, a beam of light becomes a nuisance. The characters; Cordelia, Kit, Ruff, and Chirp do not know what to do. The thing races through their playing field spoiling ball games. Not only don’t they know what to do about it, they don’t know what it is. Is it a dinosaur? Or a monster? They only know that it is a bright light, fast and rude. For help, they go to their friend Geordie, who invents things. However, it is Geordie’s latest invention that changes everything.
What are your plans for the future?
To finish these two books and move on to about five other ideas I have and write and illustrate them.
